Brooklands Brasserie & Bar – Weybridge

Reviewed on September 9th, 2011 by Dina

There are no faults with Brooklands Bar and Brasserie! From the level of service from the friendly staff to the wonderful food, it was all great!

Our Afternoon Tea started off with a choice of teas. We had the classic English Breakfast which was served by the pot. Next came our lovely sweet delights of homemade scones and selection of cakes!

Big warm scones dusted with icing sugar and served with a good amount of clotted cream! We were given a few different jams, which included raspberry, strawberry and marmalade! Sliced fresh strawberries made a nice addition to the scones!

The two little cakes were very light and soft. One of them was filled with strawberry sauce and the other with chocolate sauce. Both were yummy!

To finish the sweet treats, there was a little shot glass filled with vanilla mousse. This was topped with a rich chocolate sauce. The mousse had an airy texture to it and it was good that it was complimented with some chopped nuts too!

Brooklands Bar and Brasserie has bar seats, comfy sofa seats as well as a long seating section that runs in the centre of the dining area. The decor is pretty quirky with the centre pieces being silver turbine structures! There is also some rattan seating outdoors!

A lovely Afternoon Tea that can be enjoyed in the spacious, light and airy surroundings of Brooklands Brasserie and Bar!

The Blue Legume – Angel

Reviewed on July 28th, 2011 by Dina

The Blue Legume has never been noticed by myself, the many times that I have walked along Upper Street. It has a unique characteristic blue aubergine-like vegetable artefact as part of its sign!

There is outdoor seating at the front, which then goes through into the cafe area! The kitchen, counter and cake fridges are in the middle of the cafe area and then there is extra seating area at the back! The back area seemed like it had a lot of daylight coming into it!

The weekend brunch started off with smoothies! I had the berry smoothie and my friend had the spirulina one! Both were presented to us beautifully in sugar edged glasses and a Viennese biscuit on the side! A bright colourful start to our Sunday!

My berry smoothie was delicious! I’m not sure which berries were in it but I think that I could also taste banana! My friend said that her spirulina one was equally enjoyable with a sweet apple like flavour! This surprised me as from its green colour, I was expecting it to taste bitter!

The Blue Legume had many items on the menu including breakfast dishes, salads, burgers and paninis. I narrowed it down to two of the breakfast items, one which was a Mediterranean breakfast of grilled halloumi, feta cheese, poached egg, olives, jam and toast. But then I decided to go for the classic eggs florentine!

The eggs florentine came with some salad. The poached eggs were cooked with hard yolks, as I had asked for them to be as such! The hollandaise sauce had a lovely tangy flavour and the toasted muffin was soft! It also had a good amount of spinach!

The staff were friendly and provided us with a great service! The Blue Legume had a really cute and quirky feel to it. The tables were all decorated with pretty delicate pink flowers in small vases! The ceiling was covered with different styles of mirrors. I only noticed this once my friend pointed it out! There was a grandfather clock as part of the seating area! It felt a bit like you were in a country style cottage!

The Blue Legume is a gem of a place with lovely staff and good quality food!

Coco Momo Cafe Bar – Marylebone

Reviewed on July 5th, 2011 by Dina

Coco Momo gives a better impression from its exterior in comparison to its interior. It looks like a nice place but when we entered, it felt very untidy and messy.

There was an area of comfy seating at one end and at the other, there was a big bar area. The remaining area was made up of wooden tables and chairs.

We found the staff to be quite rude and impolite at Coco Momo. Everytime we asked one of the staff a question, it felt like we were bothering him. The service was ok, but nothing special.

Coco Momo has a limited menu on Sundays, which is when we were dining here. It is a shame that they don’t serve the bar menu on a Sunday afternoon as there were quite a few items that would have been nice to have. These included wraps and nachos.

I ended up having the broccoli soup. It was quite a creamy soup and it made a nice meal with the few slices of granary bread that it came with.

For drinks, Coco Momo does juices and smoothies. The guava and mango smoothie was really good. The taste of the two fruits definitely came through and it was a fairly refreshing drink!

Coco Momo definitely disappointed us especially with its staff and the general ambiance of the place.
