Cafe Colore – Prague

A big cake display welcomes you just opposite the entrance to Cafe Colore. It makes you think that you need to remember to have room for dessert. Table lamps, striped chairs and dark wooden furniture all contribute to the atmosphere of this dimly lit but charming restaurant.

The staff were friendly and gave us good service. They took the time to explain the dishes on the menu that we had questions about and also gave us some recommendations.

The Kuladja was a creamy soup which had quite a tangy flavour. The taste of the dill was quite prominent. The soup was quite light even though it was made with potatoes and mushrooms.

The fried pancake was absolutely delicious. The crispy pancake was stuffed full of cottage cheese, olives and dried tomatoes. The pancake was cut into three portions and it was surrounded by a tasty pepper sauce. The fries as the side dish were very moreish. These were not just any ordinary fries; these were truffle fries with parmesan. A great combination of the mushroom with cheese.

As Cafe Colore had such a great range of cakes in their display fridge, it would have been a mistake not to try one. Not that we ever need an excuse for dessert. After a fair bit of time looking at the cakes and trying to make a decision, the chocolate and banana cake was picked. Soft squidgy banana slices and chocolate cream were sandwiched between the moist chocolate cake. It had the perfect level of sweetness.

Cafe Colore gave us some wonderful, tasty Czech food. It let us experience the different flavours and tastes in a relaxed and friendly restaurant.
