Ciampini Cafe du Jardin – Rome (Spanish Steps)

Just at the top of the lovely Spanish Steps is Ciampini Cafe du Jardin. At first as we were walking past it, we noticed that it had a big outdoor eating area decorated with lots of greenery.

Once we said to the waiter that we had come for coffee and a light bite to eat, we were shown to a different area at the other side of the entrance. This was a smaller outdoor area with a few tables and chairs and it was fairly quiet which was nice. It had lovely views of the city.

The waiter recommended the Roman pizza, so we chose the mozzarella cheese and tomato one. We decided to also order the mozzarella cheese and eggplant panini. Sharing the pizza and the panini meant that we could try both of the items.

Both the pizza and panini were good. The bread base tasted fresh and it was nice that the pizza also contained spinach. The panini had good slices of soft eggplant. The meals were not too cheese heavy. The Roman pizza was very similar to the panini in the sense that it was more like a toasted sandwich than a pizza.

The cappuccino was really delicious smooth coffee. It is one of the best coffees that I have had.

Our waiter was friendly and gave us good service. After all our food and drink was served, he let us take our time just to relax and enjoy our meal.

Ciampini Cafe du Jardin is one of those places that I could easily spend an afternoon at. Nice food, drinking coffee in the sunshine and enjoying the views of Rome, is what this place is all about.
