Montana’s is a great place to go to if you are looking for a hearty meaty meal, although they do have some good vegetarian dishes as well.
To start our feast, we chose the oven-baked antojitos and the four cheese spinach dip. The oven-baked antojitos were bite size tortilla wraps filled with cheese, peppers, onions and jalapenos. They were really moreish and went well with the basil sour cream dip.
The four cheese spinach dip was of a good thick consistency. It had a strong flavour to it and was served with enough crispy pita chips. We could have easily had more of each of these dishes, but then we wouldn’t have had any space for the main course.
As you can guess, one of the main dishes had to be ribs. For that extra meat, the choice of dish was the Ribs ‘N Chicken Combo. The half rack of Hickory Smokehouse Ribs were perfectly cooked: tender succulent juicy ribs with a great flavour. Unfortunately, the BBQ chicken was not as good as the ribs, as it was a little dry.
The combo was served with a good selection of sides: coleslaw, corn and cornbread. The cornbread was really good. It was fairly sweet and reminded me more of cake.
The vegetarian and feta burger was a good filling choice too. I was expecting the burger to be made of lots of vegetables but it was more like a quorn style burger. It was topped with the feta cheese, onions, mushrooms and peppers. To accompany the burger, the crinkle cut sweet potato fries made a nice change to regular fries.
Montana’s felt very warm and cosy, helped by the antler lighting and all the rustic wooden furniture! The staff were friendly and gave great service. A little quirky touch is that the tables are covered with paper. There are crayons on the table, so you can draw, doodle or play noughts and crosses (like we did!) while you wait for the food.
