There are so many areas of London that are changing and that also includes some of the train stations. It is now the turn of Euston Station. The area outside the station has already got the new set of food outlets. Now it is the inside of the station that has got some new additions.
Prime Burger has opened on the upper level of Euston Station. Beef and chicken burgers are on the menu as well as vegetarian burgers and interesting sides of string onions and truffle fries.
The Prime Truffle Burger was ordered with the veggie patty. At first, the member of staff that was serving me was unsure if the Prime Burgers could be made as a vegetarian version. Also, another request that was made was to have the onion replaced with onion strings.
After checking with the kitchen staff and finding that both of these were possible, the order was placed. One more thing that was told was that the veggie patty was baked and not fried.
There was a sense of optimism that the correct order had been placed. This was due to the pick up receipt showing the changes that had been asked such as the no onion, addition of onion strings and little truffle cheese.
After finding a place to seat in the red stooled dining area, just on the other side of the ordering counter, disappointment crept up as the Prime Truffle Burger was unwrapped. Sure, between the burger bread, there was the veggie patty, a square slice of truffle cheese, a slice of tomato, a lettuce leaf, some truffle aioli but no onion strings.
After taking the burger back to the counter and asking one of the staff about the missing part, I was told that changes to the burger could not be made. It seemed strange to me seen as the receipt showed the correct order.
Onto the veggie patty, it was fried not baked. Again, the wrong information had been given. On a plus note, there were plenty of vegetables in the veggie patty. They were not all mushed together and the patty was made of sweetcorn, carrots, green beans, peppers and potato.
The flavour of the truffle cheese together with the veggie patty went well. The soft bun was like a brioche bun and had a slight sweetness to it.
The staff seemed to clear up the dining area when the restaurant was in its quieter period. This meant that it was trickier to find a clean table to sit at during the busy times. There are window seats and plenty of power points dotted around the restaurant. Some additional seating is outside of Prime Burger and this overlooks the station concourse.
The wooden tables have “Handcrafted Prime Burgers” etched on them. Condiments such as ketchup, salt and pepper are in little metal baskets on each table. The back of the dining area has a mirror wall made up of hexagonal sections.
At the counter and also on the mirror wall, Prime Burger has its motto of “8 minute guarantee from placing your order to eating your burger or your money back”. This is all good and well, if only the fast service could be accompanied with having the correct food order being given.
