Tampopo’s slogan is “fresh Eastern cooking” and that is what they deliver. Their cuisine ranges from Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia.

The service was really friendly and the waiter came and made sure that all the food was ok. The staff were very helpful and answered all my questions about the dishes on the menu thoroughly. Tampopo has big wooden tables as well as smaller individual ones. I did think that the furniture looked a bit worn and ready to be replaced.

The Japanese starter, yasai gyoza, was just right. Three little dumplings with a filling of bamboo shoots, carrots and water chestnuts, was good and quite light. I went for the tahu goreng and jasmine rice for my main dish. This was tofu with mushrooms in a tamarind and lime sauce. This Indonesian dish was tasty and the sauce had a tangy taste to it!

There are plenty of choices on the menu. I think that there is something on there to suit everyone, whether you want noodles, rice, curry, something spicy or even just a few small starters!
