Bangkok Thai Restaurant – Bradford

Bangkok Thai is a family run restaurant and it has a welcoming, friendly atmosphere. It is situated slightly away from the city centre but it is definitely worth seeking out.

There is so much variety on the menu and it took us a while to decide what to choose. All of the starters that we had had four pieces and came with salad and sweet chilli sauce. The Tod Mun Khow Phode were fried corn cakes. The flavours came from the sweetcorn and coconut. These were very moreish.

It was nice to have Chicken on Toast instead of the regular Prawn Toast. Minced chicken with sesame seeds on crunchy fried toast was simple but great. The Golden Parcels had a good crunch to them. They were generously filled with tasty minced chicken, carrots, sweetcorn, onion and peas.

The starters were made complete with a small bowl of classic prawn crackers. Even though all of the starters were fried, they were not greasy.

After our fill of the starters, we had room for the main meal. The staff recommended the Gai Tod Prik Gang. This was a red curry sauce dish with chicken.  Crunchy breaded and fried tender chicken pieces were the main focus in this curry. This dish had some red pepper slices and lime leaves. The red curry sauce was fairly spicy even though it was made with coconut milk. A side of plain rice was perfect for this creamy saucy curry.

Pad Thai made up the noodle dish for our meal. The rice noodles were mixed with soft chicken pieces, beansprouts and carrot strips. The menu said that eggs and spring onions were part of the Pad Thai but ours didn’t seem to have these. As we didn’t want the sauce to be really sweet, the staff said that it would be made with less of the sweet sauce. The rice noodles were slightly hard and felt like they were undercooked which made them chewy.

The Pad Thai had the slightly sweet and sour taste that is associated with this dish. It was a good dish but would have been more complete with softer noodles and the egg and onion components. Chips were had as part of the meal as it’s always nice to have a side of chunky chips to munch on.

As it was a special celebration, Strawberry Mojito Mocktails were chosen. This vibrant red drink had a super strawberry taste and it was sweet with a slight fizz. It came garnished with a whole strawberry, mint leaves and lime.

The staff at Bangkok Thai were so friendly and gave really great service. They took time out to chat to us and made us feel valued as their customer. The food recommendations that they gave were just right. The dining area of the restaurant is spacious. The tables are not too close to each other and the restaurant is split into dining sections.

Bangkok Thai made our celebration evening so special and one that was filled with delicious foods.
