Maison Blanc – Hampstead

Maison Blanc is a nice French patisserie. It has a small takeaway counter as you enter. If you pass this and head to the back of the store, that is where the cafe area is. There is limited seating here but they also have tables outside. The cafe area is very light and airy. The service…

Thai Square – South Kensington

Quite a small intimate Thai restaurant which can get busy at lunchtimes. As the seating area is small, the wooden tables are close together. They do have additional seating upstairs.

Pizza Express – Russell Square

One of the things that caught my eye as I looked at the entrance of this branch of Pizza Express was that it had been given an impressive five stars from Scores on the Doors. Scores on the Doors is the official local authority hygiene ratings for food establishments. The Bruschetta con Funghi was not…

BFI Benugo Bar and Kitchen – South Bank

We went to this BFI cafe as our regular favourite BFI Riverfront cafe was closed on this particular morning. The decor looked very similar to Tibits on Regent Street: https://ratemybistro.co.uk/tibits-regent-street/ Seen as Benugo Bar and Kitchen has been open for a lot longer, Tibits’ decor may have been inspired from this BFI cafe! Benugo is…

Nando’s – Camden Town/Chalk Farm

If you have a craving for chicken, which I had on this particular day, then Nando’s hits the spot perfectly! It had to be the quarter chicken with their famous PERi-PERi mango and lime sauce! The chicken was fresh and succulent and you can tell that Nando’s don’t use frozen chicken. As the meat had…

Tampopo – Chelsea

Tampopo’s slogan is “fresh Eastern cooking” and that is what they deliver. Their cuisine ranges from Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia. The service was really friendly and the waiter came and made sure that all the food was ok. The staff were very helpful and answered all my questions about the…

Tinderbox – N1 Centre, Angel

This espresso bar has recently relocated from the busy Upper Street to the N1 Centre. Looking at it from the outside, Tinderbox looks like a small takeaway coffee shop. But if you walk in and up the flights of wooden stairs at the back end, that is where the real coffee shop is! The Tinderbox…

Gino’s Spaghetti House – Oxford

This is an average Italian restaurant conveniently located in the centre of Oxford. We really liked the map of Italy that was painted on the ceiling.

Gourmet Burger Kitchen – Brunswick Centre

Good quality fresh ingredients makes this a good place to come for burgers whether you want something meaty or vegetarian. The size of the burgers are huge and we found it difficult to finish the burgers together with the additional fries. Its nice that you are able to add more fillings to the burgers on the menu.
