Valentino -Bingley

Valentino is a traditional Italian restaurant with such a happy feel to it. All credit goes to the wonderful and friendly staff who made us feel us part of their family and provided a relaxed atmosphere. We left with our tummies full and a happy heart at the end of the evening.

A selection of starters included Pizza Pane All’Aglio and Salmone Affumicato and Gamberetti. The tomato and garlic pizza bread was topped with mozzarella cheese. It had the right levels of tomato and cheese all on a soft base. It was great for sharing as it had already been cut into strips.

The fish based starter was a big portion and came with salad on the side. Beneath the smoked salmon slices were tender succulent prawns. The two varieties of fish complimented each other and went well with the classic Marie Rose sauce. In addition to these dishes, a treat of a bowl of hot chips were good to snack on. The bread basket contained thick slices of fresh bread and individual butter portions. The starters were simple but thoroughly enjoyable.

The speciality at Valentino is their homemade fresh pasta. It is handmade by the chef on site. These pasta dishes were of a generous size and again the food was of a high quality. The Ravioli di Pollo was so moreish. Chicken and herbs were enclosed in the pasta and it was in a mushroom and cream sauce. Chicken, mushrooms and the cream worked well together. The Ravioli Genovese was equally delicious. This was in a creamy pesto tomato based sauce. The ravioli was filled with spinach and ricotta. The pasta parcels were big and generously filled. They had lots of flavour and the pasta was made and cooked perfectly.

The interior of Valentino had a white and blue theme. The tables were decorated with small vases of flowers. A big mirror made up one of the walls and the bar was at the far end of the restaurant. The interior was clean and tidy.

The staff are friendly and can be quite comical at times. But this makes Valentino more of a fun and relaxed dining experience. The staff made you feel at home and took time out to chat and joke to us and other diners. Even when we were leaving at the end of the evening, they introduced us to the owner and the chefs too. Valentino definitely had a family run atmosphere and is a gem of a restaurant.
