These fish nuggets are coated in a seasoned batter and have a lemon juice marinade. The fish can be cut into big or small pieces.
Recipe (salt free, oil free):
Serves 1,
Tornado seasoning mix:
Paprika – 2tbsp
Onion powder – 1tbsp
Garlic powder – 1tbsp
Amchoor powder – 1tsp
Ginger powder – 1tsp
Coriander cumin powder – 2tbsp
Ground cardamom – 1/8tsp
Dried oregano – 1/2tsp
Basa fish fillet, cut into pieces – 1
Garlic clove crushed – 1
Sumac – 1tsp
Cracked black pepper – 1/8tsp
Lemon juice – 1tbsp
Batter mix:
Buckwheat flour – 2tbsp
Chickpea flour – 2tbsp
Tornado seasoning – 1tbsp
Cracked black pepper – 1/8tsp
Water – 4tbsp
Make the tornado seasoning spice blend.
Mix together the garlic, sumac, pepper and lemon juice. Marinate the fish in this mixture for 10 minutes. Combine all of the batter ingredients. Any leftover fish marinade can be mixed into the batter mix. Coat the fish pieces in the thick batter mix. Place the fish pieces in a heated frying pan. Cook on a medium heat for 5 minutes on one side with the pan covered. Once the underside is crispy, flip the fish pieces over. Cook the other side until the fish is cooked and the outer layer is golden.
